Abdallah Ajaba
Biography
Abdallah Ajaba (also recorded as Ajaba Abdallah Mtalia) was a relative of Edward Saidi Tingatinga and one of the small group of painters who learned directly from him in the founding years of the Tingatinga style.
Ajaba developed a distinctive approach within the shared vocabulary of the school, becoming known for including flying insects such as tsetse flies among the birds and animals that populate his compositions.
Following Tingatinga's death in 1972, Ajaba retired to southern Tanzania and stopped painting. He died in 2003.
