New Works: Chéri Samba
Two early paintings by Chéri Samba from 1978 are now available: Sirène and Mami Wata.
Both are executed in oil on flour sack. Sirène measures 45 x 63 cm and comes from the Dierickx collection in Brussels; Mami Wata measures 50 x 60 cm and bears a Galerie Bilinelli stamp on the reverse.
Both works carry labels relating to the 1990–1991 Chéri Samba retrospective at the Provinciaal Museum voor Moderne Kunst in Ostend. Sirène also bears inscriptions relating to a presentation at the Kulturhuset in Stockholm.
