New Essay: Contemporary Art in Mozambique
We've added Contemporary Art in Mozambique to our essays, covering nearly a century of the country's art history — starting from a cultural association in colonial Lourenço Marques that opened its doors to a shepherd, a domestic servant and a tennis club ball boy, and gave each of them a way into an artistic life.
The essay follows Mozambican artists through independence and civil war up to the present, and sits alongside the work of several Mozambican artists in our own collection.
