New Artist: Ihosvanny
We're pleased to welcome Ihosvanny (Angel Ihosvanny Cisneros, b. 1975) to the gallery. Born in Angola and self-taught, Ihosvanny is part of the first generation of Angolan artists to come of age after independence.
His work is preoccupied with Luanda's urban landscape — the physical chaos and psychic experience of the city, in his own words — transforming scenes of disorder into what one critic called “sharp visual poetry.” A first selection of his work is now available in the gallery.
