Maurus Michael MALIKITA (Maurus Mikael Malikita), 1967

Maurus Malikita was born in 1967 in Nachingwea, Tanzania. He is married and has two sons. Malikita is a successfulll Tingatinga painter who is not of Makua origin, he is Mwera.

Trained as a carpenter, Malikita worked as one until 1988 when he joined the Tingatinga Arts Cooperative (TACS). Caotic cities, street vendors and public hospitals are amongst his favorite themes which he depicts in a cartoonish style.
